Touhou 8
I wanted to write a little about my favorite game in the series so far - Touhou 8.
It's kind of hard to know where to even begin, to me, all it's aspects are great. But personally, the most important thing is that it is just pure fun. For me, many other Touhou games have some section that I dread. Like, I think to myself: "I want to play Touhou 18, but uggg, I don't wanna do stage 4" or "I want to play Touhou 7, but really don't feel like doing the Youmu fight." With Touhou 8, there's none of that. So many stages and spell cards are just fun to do. I feel that the whole game just flows so well, nothing feels unfair, and if you have the time to look, they look really pretty too, which is a nice bonus. For me, it is the perfect level of challenging and fun. When starting a run, there is nothing that I don't look forward to.
I also love the characters in it. Despite so many characters being introduced in later games, Touhou 8 still seems to contain lots of the series' most popular characters. I feel it serves as the perfect introduction to the series and would help someone new gain a lot of understanding a lot about the fandom. It also doesn't over do it - it doesn't feel like there are too many playable characters. Each team has a unique shot type that while catering to many different playstyles, still keeps it fun when trying something new.
Beyond the characters, the amazing art, music, intricate backgrounds, and effects get the game to come all together into a perfectly tailored package. I love stage 4 after encountering Marisa as the midboss, the background turns red and moves faster, and it keeps playing her theme (one of my favorites), you really feel like you are in a high speed chase/cruise through this forest. It's sooo good. The vibe the game has is perfect. That's all I can say.

I recently bought the game itself from Akiba Hobby during a trip. So here it is for those who haven't seen it.
